ABOUT CUBA

If you have not, on your dive travels, visited Cuba, I highly recommend it, before it changes, for better, or worse.
It's most likely the safest island in the Caribbean, for now at least.
The people are very friendly, and well educated.
Diving ranges, between good, to fantastic, never bad, dive masters are, for most part excellent, and as divers the best
I have ever seen.
There are many, well documented, historical sites, national parks etc. to see, if you find the time, between the dives.
When choosing a hotel, go three, to five star, and always all inclusive, if it's your first visit.
Do buy crafts, such as wood carvings, leather etc. but be aware, that objects made of  protected species, are sold !!
Unless you have  good knowledge of cigars, buy at the hotel shop, or duty free at the airport ! The same applies to rum !
ALL TRANSACTIONS IN CUBA
MUST NOW BE PAID IN PESO COVERTIBLE !

If you bring US $, they will charge you 10% to exchange to Cuban peso convertible. All other currencies, including C$, Euro, etc. are not subject to the 10% exchange rate.
Master Card, Visa, are accepted, if not drawn on a US bank. AMEX is NOT accepted.
There is a 25 pesos. Departures tax, cash only.
Price of diving ranges between 220-300, for 10 dives.
However, there are extra charges, for the shark dive, in Santa Lucia, and the Colon wreck, in Sierra Mar.
